Apurba was born and brought up in west Bengal in India where man wear dhoti and kurta and women an ordinary saree. These simple village folks are the inspiration behind his creations. he is also enriched with the Indian miniature and the folk art of Bengal. He tries to draw from his connection with the modernity of his generation and the spiritual world. These were the challenges and influences that shape his personal style while dealing with the present time. In his paintings, the theme centers upon a couple who have spent the major part of their lives in establishing themselves and not much of life is left now for them, Now after retirement, It is impossible for them to do anything because of their obese and incapable bodies, so these oppressed aspirants are obsessed by their dreams. They have created a virtual world of their own that is not entirely artificial but is a creation of their mind. The fat naked legs and hands try to bring dreams to reality but in vain. This was the state of his parents and he came to this realiSation after seeing and experiencing the harsh reality that “aspiration ends but dreams sustain us. His work today, reflects the miscellany of his background. His personal goal is to continue to learn, create and refine his work. In the end, he has to be regarded as one of the truly best, someone who put himself, his experience, his pride and his heart into each and every piece. **Education :** BA (Defense Studies) Calcutta University Diploma (Visual Art) Birla Academy Diploma (Applied Art) Sromik Department,Gov.Of West Bengal **Solo show :** Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata: 2018 Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata: 2016 Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai: 2015 Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata: 2014 **Group show :** Group show at Press club Benaras- 2022 Group show Oxy Art Guild, Gurgaon- 2022 Gnani art gallery, Singapore - 2021 Kalaa Drishyam, Lucknow – 2020,2021 Karkhana Art space, Dhaka, Bangladesh – 2020,2021 Bindas Art Foundation, Delhi – 2020,2021 Nirantar Art Foundation, Delhi – 2020 Kalangan Art N.G.O, Delhi- 2020 FACB, Kolkata - 2021 Sponsored show Alipore residency at Kolkata: - 2020 Stainless gallery, New Delhi: - 2019 Samanvai art gallery, Jaipur, Rajasthan: - 2019 Show on Floatel, Mumbai - 2017 Group show at Habitat Centre, New Delhi2019,17,16,15 Group show at Academy of Fine Arts: - 2011,12,14,16,17,19 Group Exhibition in Metropolitan art Shalon: 2009 College group show: 2007,2008,2009 **Awards :** Kalangan Award – 2020 Karkhana Art Space Award, Dhaka, Bangladesh - 2021 [SOURCE](https://artygenie.com/artist-profile/apurba-karati)

Artist Statement

Artist Note: The most significant aspect of my painting is that I work without any aid from a model or photograph. I was born and brought up in West Bengal in India where men wear dhoti and Punjabi and women with ordinary saree that influence my inner self and reflect my work of art and creation. I am also enriched with the art of Indian miniature painting and folk art of Bengal. I have a connection with the modernity of my generation with Indian spirituality. In order to find my own style through the influence of traditional modernity and the blow of current events. I find a challenge the motivate my life's work that does not negate the present. In my paintings, the theme centers upon a couple represent males and females who spared the major part in life for establishment themselves. much of life has been left behind. In retirement, it is impossible for them to do anything with the obese body so oppressed aspirants are encircled by dreams. It has constituted a virtual world of their own that is entirely not artificial but is constituted within the core of the mind. Naked legs and thick hands as if trying to bring dreams into reality but in vain. The experience I had to visualize and feel very close to was from the harsh realities that are from my parents. What I do directly after prolonged thinking to be accurate in technique, composition, line, and division of space. At the same time, my painting also leads me to the realm of perfection in course of my endeavor. "aspiration ends but dreams sustain us" [SOURCE](https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ7i_HbLHeD/)
