In this work, I explore the influence of colonial art practices of landscape painting from the past to the present. I am particularly interested in how colonial aesthetics have shaped popular culture such as truck paintings, popular scenery paintings etc in my surroundings and across India. The image of the turkey in my painting symbolizes foreign species within our ecosystem—an analogy for external influences that reshape landscapes and alter our environment. Through this work, I reflect on the ways these elements become embedded in our cultural and ecological system transforming our collective experience.
