‘And the Eyes Fizzled Out in the Delirium’ is a work done after the Bedsorean Lull series and stands almost alone among other works. The title of the work is about a moment daubed in hysteria, and the eyes fail to see or understand what lies ahead and in front. In the front is my image, again a detached slice, almost becoming a body in itself. A condition of physical privation and shifts, stressing the need for closer attention. In both the case of the Bedsorean series and the present one, the image attempts to draw the viewer towards it, towards its fluid-soaked ground and the clotted field, surrounded by numerous splits and delicate folds. The fragile surface and its detailed presence in the image evoke similar fragments and mutilations that often fail to be seen in hysterical moments of possession and consumption in our daily practice of contemporary mass culture. The consumption in daily life is both real and virtual, which gradually desensitizes the individual to their own experience. The image thus brings a kind of assurance and a space to confront oneself with the image and its very nature of representation. The fragmented slice may cause some unease, like the ones from the earlier series, but its familiarity and visual presence in culture build up a commitment to begin a conversation.
