This work draws from popular theatre performances and the classical composition of Portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Urbino by Piero Della Francesca. By transforming the sky into a stage curtain, I emphasize the theatricality embedded within the scene and frame the landscape as a constructed space. The painting reflects on colonial artistic traditions—particularly landscape painting—and how their visual strategies continue to shape contemporary ways of seeing. By combining these influences with art-historical references, I explore how colonial aesthetics persist in popular culture and subtly inform our understanding of images today.
