**Surface of Silence** is a tactile exploration of ecological erasure, where the river’s vibrant dialogue is muted by the heavy, interlocking shroud of the water hyacinth. This series of experimental paper works uses the very material of the "takeover"—invasive fibers bound by the tension of fishing thread—to document the transition of a waterway from a source of life into a static, suffocating tomb. By harvesting the plant that chokes our wetlands, the work transmutes an environmental crisis into a "living archive." It captures the paradox of a landscape that has lost its reflection: a beautiful, velvet siege that hides a dying ecosystem beneath a false floor. These pieces are not merely paper, but sedimentary ghosts—a tribute to a life of total dependence on a river that is slowly being buried under a surface of silence.
