Bandita Talukdar

My practice engages with ecology, materiality and motherhood through sculpture and photography. I am interested in the idea of life emerging where it is least expected, and in creating imagined ecosystems where different forms can coexist, grow and transform. I work with industrial and synthetic materials, transforming them into organic forms inspired by leaves, stems, flowers, fruits and other elements from my surroundings. Through repetitive processes of wrapping, twisting, knotting and binding, making becomes a slow and meditative act of growth and care. Across my work, I am interested in the relationships between people, materials and the living world, and in how life, memory and care can continue to emerge in unexpected places.
