Weight of ancestry

I work as a visual artist and sculptor. I make sculptures, installations, drawings, and photographs of often eerie landscapes, weapons, bridges, and other built structures reaching for a kind of balance that shouldn't quite work, but does. I'm drawn to interlocking, diagonally braced forms. There's a beauty in that complexity, and in the nostalgia it carries.

My work pulls from war, geopolitics, sustainable development, ecology, conservation, and ancestry, most of it arises from my family's history. After a major earthquake hit my neighbourhood in 2016, earthquakes became part of my practice too, and my work has carried that weight of family and memory ever since.

Right now, I'm exploring calm and chaos as two sides of the same idea, working across different forms and materials at once.
