Harvest of forgotten stories

Newspapers wrapped around vegetables taught me to look closer. Growing up in a farming family in Nadia district, I noticed old newspapers were used to package produce; they carried stories and photographs of farmers that resonated deeply with my own life. This sparked my curiosity about how these everyday images reflect social realities. After moving to Bolpur, West Bengal, I began documenting local vegetable markets, bazaars, and produce shops through photography. Using photo transfer, sculpture, painting, installation, and performance, I create visual narratives that explore the multiple layers of agricultural communities and market systems. I work with unconventional materials and found objects such as paper, discarded things - allowing them to become part of my artistic dialogue. My subjects are deliberately ordinary because I believe valuable aspects of our lives go unnoticed simply because they're so accessible.
