“Fishing in a fragile landscape”
Growing up near the coastal village of Digha, I was always surrounded by the Nuliah community. Their lives, the fishing nets, traps, and boats inspire my art practice. These objects feel like a biography of their daily struggles. I'm drawn to the rhythm and structure in things like fishing traps; which are very symbolic of the fisherfolk's identity and persistent fight for life.My work represents the intense struggle and spirit of this particular coastal area.
