“Listening through walls of steel”
I am an artist born and raised in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, where I currently live and work. My art explores the deep connections between memory, stories, and everyday life. Growing up around steel plant housing, I became fascinated by walls, cracked and chipped surfaces that act like modern cave paintings, recording the traces, class, and struggles of the people who lived there. Influenced by my grandmothers' stories and literature, I use portraits and figures to capture human histories through expressions, posture, and clothing. Being color-blind, I rely on contrast, texture, light, and shadow, layering materials like charcoal, cloth, and acrylic to build textured, relief-like surfaces.
