“Conflict shaped identities”
Raised in Assam, my early work, such as Violence (2022-2024), was about understanding the conflicts and emotional impact of violence I experienced. My practice now has significantly shifted to themes of identity, displacement, and belonging, especially after moving outside the Northeast.
An ongoing series, “A Feast of Identities,” uses food as a way to talk about who we are, migration, and resilience. I focus on Northeastern cuisine - its smoked meats, fermented bamboo shoots, and herbs - seeing them as vessels of memory and cultural continuity. I bring together painting, installation, and actual food materials to create work that invites empathy and reflection, tracing my personal evolution and search for belonging.
