The quotidian life

I view my art as a form of documentation of moments, sitting right between what's real and how it feels emotionally. I mostly paint portraits of the people known to me. By this I aim to capture that warmth and intimacy shared between two individuals, often using oil paints thinned down to feel like watercolors. This enables me to create a soft, almost ephemeral look. My work borrows from the Intimism tradition - exploring the internal worlds of my subjects, especially women in their private spaces, rather than just how they look. I want my pieces to feel like a soft memory, drawing the viewer in to try and understand the person on the canvas.
