“Spilling observations”
I paint the people and moments closest to me in their natural poses, their moods, surrounded by everyday objects. I'm interested in the space between abstract and real, documenting the metro life I live in and how the natural and man-made worlds relate to each other. My process is layered and physical where I build paintings with 18-20 layers of color, using unconventional tools like rollers, scrapers, mops, combs, and my hands to pour and spread paint directly onto the canvas. For me, painting is a meditative practice, each work comes out of a long spiritual journey that's hard to explain with words. There's always a start but no definite end; at some point, I step back and let the viewer take it from there.
