Nothing Serious! This series unfolds like a quiet yet piercing testimony to the political endurance woven into everyday life. Each panel appears gentle at first glance—washed in soft tones, smoke-stained textures, and muted gestures—yet beneath this calm surface lies a landscape shaped by anxiety, absurdity, and silent resistance. From a child struggling to lift oversized microphones meant for political slogans, to staircases constructed upon piles of skulls, to the elevated cow presiding like an untouchable deity—every motif exposes the unsettling hierarchies of our times. In today’s political climate, the worth of human life often feels diminished, while symbols and animals—especially the cow—are raised to a place of greater sanctity than the people themselves. Across these images, human figures bend, crouch, observe, or silently endure. Their spines appear impossibly elastic yet unbroken—an allegory of the resilience demanded from citizens navigating systems that prioritise power over empathy. The recurring haze of smoke becomes a metaphor for suffocation: the air thick with unspoken fears, unresolved histories, and the quiet pressure of survival. Despite its deceptively casual title, Nothing Serious! reveals an unvarnished truth about contemporary existence—how we learn to bear the weight of political absurdity, how we bend without collapsing, and how humour, irony, and endurance become our subtle tools for living through times that constantly test the limits of patience and humanity.
