The image comes from the Basgo village of Ladakh where the mountains had been a source of natural clay for the region. The reddish brown soil deposits were used to make local utensils and objects which shape the identity and the material culture of Ladakh. Pots of various purpose made from the village travelled to all around Ladakh during the interregional trade.
