How does it feel like to return to the house of your childhood and find it in ruins? Abandoned houses in Tripura can be seen both in the book and in the drawings on the wall. On closer inspection, small details emerge that speak of past lives – such as the traditional stoves embed- ded in the ground. For the artist, the comparison between Tripura and Aarau raises the question of how we engage with cultures of remem- brance: Who decides what is worthy of being preserved and what is left to decay
