Evening tune

The vegetable market has always been an image that draws me in. In the evening, with the colours of the vegetables, the movement of people and the different lights and shadows, the market comes alive. There is something almost theatrical about it, the way people, objects, animals and sounds come together to create a lively sense of chaos. For me, a market represents the possibility of finding almost anything. In this work, I wanted to bring together the many things I imagine belonging to a market- vegetables, wood, donkeys, sheep, monkeys, dogs, objects, sounds and people. Together, they create a sense of commotion and celebration. The work is also about the market as a space of human connection. Things are constantly being revealed and concealed, and I enjoy this play between what can be seen and what remains hidden. It adds a sense of mystery and makes the place feel both familiar and intriguing. The noise, movement and energy of the market briefly take us away from the routine of everyday life. Because these markets are temporary, they create their own little world, full of people, objects, encounters and associations that come together for a short while and then disappear.
